Edward Fitzgerald specialises in criminal law, public law and
international human rights law. He frequently appears in the House of Lords, in the Privy Council and in the European Court of Human Rights.
Ruth Wedgwood is Edward B. Burling Professor of International Law and Diplomacy and Director of the International Law and Organizations Program, School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University. She is the USA member of the U.N. Human Rights Committee and a member of the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee for International Law.
Javaid Rehman is Professor of International Law at Brunel University and visiting Professor at Dublin City University, Ireland. Author of International Human Rights Law (2002) and ofIslamic State Practices, International Law and the Threat from Terrorism: A Critique of the ‘Clash of Civilizations’ in the New World Order (2005).
Presented by the Temple Church and the Centre of Islamic and Middle East Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies. The Temple Church was built by the Knights Templar during the Crusades, a time of bitter division between Christian and Muslim cultures. We are glad to make this Church, 800 years later, a place where genuine and respectful conversation between the two cultures can be fostered.
