" My first reaction when I joined the choir five years ago was nervousness. I was made to feel more relaxed when I went into my audition. After my audition, I was told I was in the choir and the next hurdle was my first practice. The other choristers seemed really friendly and I soon settled in. We also do fun things and go on trips as a group.
A few months down the line, I started to notice the massive benefits of the choir. One of these was the people you met. Not only did you meet boys of the same age but you met important people such as judges, barristers and the Bishop of London who confirmed me.
I also took part in The Veil of the Temple which was composed by Sir John tavener which lasted six hours and was very moving. After we premiered it in the church we were asked to sing it in New York and at the BBC Proms live on Radio. We spent a week in America rehearsing and seeing the sights in between.
One major thing for me was the opportunity to go to the City of London School where I currently attend. The school is great and offers a wide range of musical instruments to learn.
Yes, the choir is a commitment but it doesn’t stop you doing the things you enjoy such as football or tennis. The choir can also set you up for a career in music, be it classical or pop! "
