Choristers
Following a voice trial and an academic test, Temple choristers are awarded a scholarship worth two-thirds of the fees for the City of London School. The Temple has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with this excellent school for over 100 years, though choristers are not obliged to take the CLS scholarship and may attend a different school if preferred.
Each boy receives a musical and academic education that is second to none. The discipline and mutual support that the boys enjoy offer outstanding personal development, time management and teamwork experience. The Temple choristers receive specialised musical training by the music department and enjoy the benefits of a cathedral-style education whilst living at home. They become confident, self-contained and considerate, working as and with professional musicians in an adult environment whilst still receiving compassionate and pastoral care.
In particular, the Middle and Inner Temple are generous in their financial support towards the chorister's scholarships. The Temple Music Foundation raises further funds to support the existing scholarships potentially to full fees, so that a suitable boy need never turn down a chorister's place due to financial hardship.
