RUSH HOUR CONCERT

Sofia Sacco (piano)

Praised for her “intelligence and sensitive artistry“, Italian pianist Sofia Sacco has performed extensively across Europe and Asia.

Her unique voice has earned her recognition as a City Music Foundation Artist 2024-2026, Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, and Artist in Residence at the Società del Quartetto di Bergamo. A recipient of the Francis Simms Prize and first prizes in international competitions, Sofia Sacco has a fierce passion for Shostakovich’s music - she released her debut CD in 2025 with Orchid Classics featuring his masterpiece 24 Preludes and Fugues Op. 87.

In this fascinating programme spanning continents and centuries, Sofia draws parallels between the elegant miniatures of French Baroque music and the neo-classical echoes in Messiaen and the luminous clarity of Japanese composer Takashi Yoshimatsu. The programme is rounded off with the Bach-influenced preludes and fugues by Russian composer Kabalevsky.
